In the Way of History

What can I say about SHANNON WYFFELS? Her personality shines and sparkles akin to her jewelrygraceful in its honest simplicity, elegant in its depth. Drawing on her natural aptitude for mathematics (Temple University 1996-2000), her often geometrically inspired, playful designs seem a synthesis of a life-long interest in form, symmetry, and aesthetics. Moving beyond the rigid specialization of college Mathematics, Shannon found silver where there seemed only academic ash. In 2004, her passion for aesthetical expression was brought to a boil in the form of jewelry design silver wire crafted earrings, necklaces, and bracelets adorned with various pearls and semi-precious stones. Entirely self-taught as with mathematics and photography a natural aptitude blessed her path she embarked on a journey of jewelry design. What began as a supplementary home business in Shannon Wyffels Design blossomed quickly into gallery representation (Phillys Gould, & Metalworks to name a few), eventually culminating in a formal studio expansion, a business partnership, and an altogether new company that we proudly present to you today
Shannon Wyffels Metalworks

As for myself, (BRENDAN OGUINN) my own journey here was fraught with many digressions (college/writing/screen writing); and my contributing talents, like Shannon, represent an unconventional synthesis of different disciplines and passions. I studied at Boston College (BA 2003)in whatever interested me: primarily Irish Literature and Philosophy. I spent a wonderful academic year and a half abroad (Trinity College, Dublin), stomping about Europe, reveling in the open embrace of the artsboth visual and writtenthat permeates most of Europe. The Irish flair for silver design, in particular, fascinated methe shape and design of human experience or ritual, the constant generation of new meaning or design by synthesizing old and new symbols. After college it became clear rather quickly that few conventional careers suited my talents or sustained my interests; so I fell back on my friends, my passions, and their passions. I caught the entrepreneurial spirit and felt the intoxication of working for something in which I genuinely believe

Mission Statement

Shannon Wyffels Metalworks strives to generate and renew a womanly aesthetic of expressive and vital strength; an aesthetic within which the jewelry itself merely accents, complements, and builds upon by extension the expressive vitality that inheres in all women. Far from the oppressive adornment or possessive air of some jewelry, our designs seek to free the vital energies and authentic voices oft confined by conventional, weighty, standardized jewelry. Again, with a mind for authenticity, our designs seek

1to warm the coldly formal ensemble with playfulness
2to emphasize the simple elegance of form and shape rather than stifle with complex adornment
3to sparkle and dance when stillness too much cloaks us

An abiding sense of movement permeates all of our designsthat sense that earrings serve not to punctuate ears but to extend them; indeed, to transform, re-invent and otherwise imbue them with life.
